dera is a football game you play in your browser, made and run by an independent developer in Canada. It keeps as little about you as it can. No ads, no analytics, no tracking, and nothing is ever sold.
Playing as a guest
- No account and no cookies.
- Your browser remembers the name you typed, your last room code and your settings. That stays on your device, and clearing your site data removes it.
- To run a match, dera's server keeps what happens in it: every player's moves, the goals, and the names shown in the room. That is what lets a match be checked and replayed.
- Chat messages go to the people in your room and are not stored.
With an account
dera keeps:
- your email address, and whether you've confirmed it
- your handle
- your password, stored only as a one-way hash, so nobody can read it back, including us
- a sign-in cookie that keeps you logged in for up to 30 days
- your matches, results and stats, your XP and level, your derabucks and the items you own
dera does not keep your IP address, your browser's details, or your real name.
Signing in with Google
If you use Google, dera gets your email address from Google and whether Google has confirmed it. The name and picture Google sends are thrown away, and so is Google's access to your account once you're signed in.
Emails
dera emails you only to confirm your address and to reset your password when you ask. Never newsletters or marketing.
Who else handles your data
- Cloudflare hosts dera: the game servers, the database and the emails. Cloudflare keeps the server's logs for up to 7 days, for fixing bugs.
- Cloudflare Turnstile checks that you're a person when you make an account or ask for a password reset. To do that it looks at signals from your browser, under Cloudflare's privacy policy.
- Google, only if you choose to sign in with it.
Your choices
- To delete your account, use Delete account in your Account settings, or email privacy@dera-app.com from the address on it. Your email, handle, password, sign-ins, XP and derabucks are deleted. Past matches stay, since other players' results point at them, but your name is taken off them.
- If you make an account with an email and never confirm it, it is deleted after 7 days, and its handle is free for someone else.
- To see what dera has about you, or to correct it, email the same address.
Age
You need to be 13 or older to make an account.
Changes
If this page changes, the date at the top changes with it.
